Robot Art Show
Circuits:
V - Voltage (V) - A measurement of electricity i - Current (Amps A) - The flow of electricity r- Resistance (Ohms Ω) - The amount that the current is slowed |
Types:
Parallel - Multiple paths that branch out and re connect. The voltage is the same and the current splits between the paths. You find the total resistance by adding the inverse of each pathway. Series- One path. The voltage splits and the current remains the same. You find the total resistance by adding all of the resisters. |
Breadboards:
Breadboards are boards that are used to organize the electrical parts in a circuit. They are made up of wires that run vertically and horizontally. Arduino: For the last part of the project we used Arduino boards to make some form of art. For our Arduino we made the Mc Donald’s theme by using LEDs for the Mc Donald’s M, the buzzer to play the theme song and a LCD to write out the main slogan “ I’m lovin it”. To make the stuff run like it is suppose to we had to code the Arduino. |
Reflection:
For this project there were many peaks and pits. One pit was that one of out group members was very distracting. Another pit was that out buzzer was very quiet during the presentation because it was broken. One peak was that even with all of the distractions we were still able to get it done. Another peak was even though I was not there to set up the Arduino board before presenting, and I was the only one who knew how to build it, my group still got it to work. Over all the project was fun and was we worked well as a group.

San Marin Micro-Grid
Wind Turbine Design:
For this project we were assigned the task to make the most efficient wind turbine. We cut pieces of paper into wing shapes and attached them to each other testing different shapes and amounts of wings. We measured it using a voltmeter. Electrical Fields: We learned about how electrical fields work by using a field hockey website where the buck is positively charged and you use positive and negative charges to get the puck in the goal. The negatives attracted the puck and the positives repealed the puck. We also did a lab using tape Electromagnetic lab:
For this lab we created electromagnets testing to see how variables such as wire thickness affect the strength of the magnet. Dissecting a motor:
To learn about motors we dissected they to see how they work. The motors work using an electromagnet. There are also 2 types of motors: brushed and brush less. |
San Marin micro grid:
For the final part of this project we designed a micro grid. We were allowed to design one for either Novato or San Marin. Our group chose San Marin. We decided to make most of the energy in the summer using solar panels and a little in the winter, then store it in fuel cells. |
Reflection:
In this project there were many peaks and pit. One pit was that my groups design was pretty reliant on one variable because it was all solar panels. Another pit was that a few people in my group were not on task often. However, one peak is that even though it was relying on one variable, it could potentially produce a lot more than needed and we have a lot of storage. Another peak was that the total cost was not that unreasonable after we made some recalculations. Over all this project went well and the group did not do bad together.
