Science building design:
Our group spent 3 weeks designing the new Science building that we are building on campus. We had a budget of 10 million. Our group decided to make or building 2 stories. However the second story is mostly outdoors with a storage area. Earths Layers:
Crust - The outer layer of the Earth which is made of rocks and metals Mantle- Under crust made of molten rock Outer core- The outer core is made of liquid metals such as iron and nickle Inner core- The Center of the Earth made of a iron-nickle alloy |

Model of Orbits:
We had to come up with a phenomenon that we could use to calculate it for any planet, Specifically for this project, planet X. Our group found a phenomenon using the distance from the sun and the time it takes to orbit to find the velocity. Our phenomenon works only for planets with a non elliptical orbit. Even though it doesn't work with an elliptical orbit, we can still find an approximate answer finding the high and low. You find these by using the equation for the farthest distance and one for the closest distance. However it will not be very accurate. Day lighting Techniques:
Skylights - A window in the roof that lets light travel in Solar tube- A tube that reflects light into the room Clerestory windows- A window near the roof meant to let light in not to see out of Light shelf- A reflective shelf outside of a window that reflects light through he window |
Solar Angles:
We also had to learn about solar angles to know where the daylight features should be placed, however the angles may change over the year. To test out where to put the lighting features we moved a flashlight from morning to night in the summer and winter around our model house. Atoms:
For this project, we also learned about what everything i s made of and how heat works. To do this we learned about atoms. Atoms are made up of protons, electrons and neutrons. The nucleus is made up of protons and neutrons. The element is determined by the number of protons. The electrons are outside of the nucleus and can transfer between different atoms. |
Reflection:
For this project, I had a pretty good group, however there were some ups and downs. Some of the peaks of this project was that even though I was sick for the presentation, my group still did pretty well on the presentation. Also, even though half of our group did not actually do anything but we still completed it. However we also had some pits along with the peaks. These pits include how half of our group didn't work on the project. Also we did not have enough time to add the Tinker cad into the presentation.
