For this project, we had to research how one way your body maintains homeostasis. Our group was assigned blood pressure. To find evidence of homeostasis, we had to first take our normal blood pressure for our control. Then we had to do something to both raise our blood pressure and lower it so we could see how our body returns back to normal. The first of our tests was running 100 yards to raise out blood pressure. We then took our blood pressure immediately after and about 10 min later. We then did the same after resting to lower it.
Concepts:
Homeostasis- The tendency to maintain an internal stability in living things Blood pressure- The pressure of the blood in the circulatory system Systolic pressure- Top number of blood pressure that represents the pressure of blood in your arteries during the contraction of your heart Diastolic pressure-The bottom number of your blood pressure that represents the pressure between beats Negative Feedback Loop- A reaction that causes a decrease in function Positive Feedback Loop- A reaction that that enhances or amplifies changes Scientific method-

Reflection:
Overall, me and my group worked well together over this project and it went pretty well. However, we ran into a few problems during it. The first time that we went to do our tests, we were not using that blood pressure reader correctly so we had to redo all of those tests the next day, which put us a day behind. Also, we did not have as much time as some other groups due to sports and having to leave early. Despite these problems, we were still able to finish on time, which is one of our peaks. Also, for one of experiments, we got to take a nap, which is another peak. |
