Evidence of Work
Design Step 1 is basically the setup for our capstone project. We completed different tasks to get ready to design our project. Design Step 1 is split into 2 separate parts, which each took around a week.
Part 1: The first thing that we did was identify things that we were interested in. We then looked for people who had similar interested to form a team. Once we had formed our team, we looked for mentors to help us through out project. After that, we brainstormed possible project ideas and created our team management plan.
Part 2: In the second part we decided on the problem that we were going to solve with our product and identified possible solutions. Then we studied potential customers. After that we prepare a typed list of design specifications, and finally create a project proposal.

For our brainstorm, we made a Padlet, where we put a ton of ideas on a page and connected them to help come up with our project idea. Throughout design step 1 we have continued to add info to our Padlet and will continue to add things throughout the project. Then to manage out teams productivity, we made a Toggle, where we built a gantt chart. The link to the Padlet and the Toggl and below. Part 2:
The problem that we decided to solve/ help is pollution. We plan to do this by designing and possibly building an electric bike that is cheap and is solar powered, making it have the ability to cause no pollution. It will also have the ability to plug into a power outlet, which is not clean power, if needed. There are tons of electric bikes already, but the main problem is that they are too expensive and they are charged by energy that is not produced without pollution. Since our bike will be solar powered, it will eliminate that problem and we will try to make it more affordable for the average consumer.
We originally created a demands and wishes document where we came up with ideas that we needed to be included and thought might be nice to have. However, we didn't know if our customers would feel the same. So, to better understand our potential customers demands and wishes we made a survey. After we got out results to our survey, we modified out Demands and wishes document.
Finally, we made an initial project proposal using all of the information that we have gathered and ideas we had come up with.

Reflection
Design step 1 has gone pretty well and I hope the rest of the project goes as well if not better. One thing that me and my group did well in particular is getting together is calls outside of class. With limited class time, and a lot of work to do, it is very necessary that we get on a call together outside of class to finish some of the assignment and I think we managed that pretty well. Another thing that we did well was manage who was doing what.
There were also a few things that could be improved upon. One example is our time management. Even with the gantt chart, we ended up starting each part last minute. Another thing that could be improved was our overall effort. While we did put a lot of effort into the project so far, we definitely could have put more effort into things like sending our survey to more people. Even though wethere were many things we could improve on, we still worked pretty well together.
